Do i need like student visa to go study the language in japan?

Question by None: Do i need like student visa to go study the language in japan?
I know that in my country some people get the student visa to be able to come to USA and study english here for a period of a year if im correct... But wat if I live in the USA and want to go to japan to study the language.
Are there any programs that would have me everythin paid so i could go there and study. ?
