Q&A: japanese Language school or University japanese course?

hi,
im planning to go and study in japan for one year.
just want to ask if there is a big difference in attending a normal japanese language course and attending a universiyt i.e. waseda /sophia university's japanese language course.

im a graduate (master in the US) and am planning to work in japan if possible. ,, would employers prefer those who goes to university course rather than language school?
