How can I become fluent in a second language?

Question by : How can I become fluent in a second language?
I have been study French in high school and college for about five years now. I can read basic stuff and understand movies, but it is very difficult for me to hold a conversation with a native speaker. I plan on studying in France in a few months. Does anyone have suggestions that they used when learning a second language?
